
Good morning! Here are 10 things you need to know this morning:
1.
A former Bayelsa State governor, Timipre Sylva has said that former
President, Goodluck Jonathan’s support for the re-election bid of
Governor Seriake Dickson was a confirmation of his earlier position that
the former President was the President of Bayelsa State and not the
whole of Nigeria.
2. Report has claimed that the Group Managing
Director of BGL Plc, a Lagos-based financial services company, Mr.
Albert Okumagba, has been arrested by the Operatives of the Economic and
Financial Crimes Commission over alleged N28.9bn fraud.
3.
Kaduna State Governor, Nasir el-Rufai, has denied media report that he
collapsed and was in coma, describing the rumour as the handiwork of
mischievous people. He said the rumour was designed by mischief makers
for purposes best known to them. He made the denial while addressing
some members of the organized labour on Thursday.
4. The National
Examinations Council has released the June/July 2015 Senior Secondary
School Certificate Examination results. Details show that there is a
remarkable improvement in the result when compared with previous results
between 2011 and 2014. This was confirmed by the Registrar and Chief
Executive Officer of NECO, Prof. Abdulrashid Garba, on Thursday.

The Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC, on Thursday staged a nationwide
protest in support of President Buhari’s anti-corruption war. The
solidarity march started from the Unity Fountain at the Transcorp Hilton
to the National Assembly where they were addressed by the
representative of the Senate President and the Speaker, Hon Sani Zoro.

The Nigerian Army, yesterday, testified that the last Rivers State
governorship election was marred by violence and sporadic gun shots,
hence the reason voters’ turnout was poor. The three senior Army
officers who testified before the Justice Mohammed Ambrosa-led tribunal,
yesterday included; Captain Abubakar Mohammed, from Bony Camp, Lagos;
Captain Fred Bala, from Maiduguri and Captain Isa Almakura.
7.
Report says investigation into what led to the electrocution of a 300
Level student of Lagos State University, Oluchi Anekwe, is about to
commence as the federal government has dispatched a high-powered
technical team to the University of Lagos. The technical team, led by
Engr. Peter Ewesor of the Nigerian Electricity Management Services
Limited, (NEMSL) has arrived Lagos State for proper findings.

The Kaduna refinery will start production of Premium Motor Spirit, PMS,
in December. This was contained in a statement by the NNPC in Abuja.
According to the Group Managing Director of the corporation, Mr. Ibe
Kachikwu, the Fluid Catalytic Cracking Unit, FCCU, and the fuel section
of the refinery would be revived in the next 3 months.
9. The
Dean, Faculty of Law, University of Calabar, Prof. Cyril Ndifon, who was
accused of sexually assaulting a 20-year-old 400-level student in his
office has been suspended by the panel set up by the school’s Vice
Chancellor, Professor Ivara Esu to investigate the matter.
10.
President Muhammadu Buhari Thursday fired the Chairman of the Federal
Capital Territory, FCT Internal Revenue Service as well as the Chairmen,
Secondary Education and Universal Basic Education Boards. Their
dismissal is said to be with immediate effect.
